Figs in syrup (serves 2)
Ingredients
1/2 cup water
1 orange, zested with a potato peeler and juiced
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon brown sugar
1 teaspoon natural vanilla extract
1 star anise
3 cloves
1 cup dried whole figs (~8)
Mascarpone cheese.
Method
Combine all ingredients in a small saucepan and place over medium heat, dissolve sugar.
Bring to the boil, add the figs and simmer for 30 minutes.
Turn off, cool to room temperature and chill in a fridge until cold.
Serve 4 figs per person, with a table spoon of mascarpone on the side, drisle syrup over.
